Junichi Abe's SS24 collection for Kolor takes inspiration from his recent mountain expedition, igniting a contemplation on our connection with nature. The designer's personal experience of skiing in solitude served as a catalyst for his creative exploration, evoking both a sense of awe and self-reflection.

Fusing sports with fashion

Embracing his signature style, Abe deftly redefines sportswear aesthetics in this collection. The garments exude an ethereal lightness, originality, and thought-provoking allure, urging us to ponder the intersection of skiing and fashion. By intentionally juxtaposing a ski-inspired collection with the summer season, Abe skillfully plays with contrasts. Thin fabrics, such as nearly transparent nylon jumpsuits that mimic the weightlessness of freshly fallen snow, elegantly nod to the warmth of the summer sun.

Deconstruction signatures

Abe's deft touch extends to his reimagining of shorts, transforming them through layered elements that disrupt their traditional form and create captivating depth and texture. On the runway, light and boxy sweaters adorned with delicate snowflake patterns evoke a sense of wintery charm, while ski jumpsuits introduce unexpected short puffy sleeves for a playful twist. Ski sweater motifs serve as a creative canvas, allowing Abe to unleash his imagination and infuse the collection with his distinctive color-blocking style, resulting in an ensemble that exudes dynamism and visual intrigue. It becomes evident that Abe's ability to reimagine garments transcends mere aesthetic considerations.
