Chiahung Su SS24 Those Times
Chiahung Su SS24 Those Times
With its Spring Summer 24 collection, Chiahung Su invites you to embrace the rich traditions of East Asian crafts while reveling in contemporary design. SS24 Those Times encapsulates the brand's commitment to sustainability, authenticity, and the artistry that shapes their unique garments.
Inspiration
Taking inspiration from the untouched dreams of a bygone era, Chiahung Su incorporates antique Japanese jacquard fabrics from the 1950s into their pieces. This artistic choice not only preserves the rich heritage of the past but also merges different cultures, creating designs that resonate with warmth and character. Each garment becomes a testament to the brand's dedication to delivering design with a touch of nostalgia.
Dedication to natural dyes
At the heart of Chiahung Su's creative process lies their dedication to authenticity and sustainability. Their unique fabric is meticulously crafted using time-honored techniques, utilizing locally sourced organic herbs and plantations. Madder, pomegranate bark, ink bark, mahogany, and guava leaves are skillfully employed to create exclusive shades, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the region.
The collection showcases the cold/pigment and thermal handmade dyeing process applied to woolen and linen pieces. The intentional non-uniformity achieved through this method creates a distinct vintage look. It is important to note that conventional standard requirements may not be applicable due to variables such as different batches of raw materials and preparation. Reproducibility, center/selvedge alignment, and uniformity along the entire dyeing batch are intrinsic characteristics and contribute to the unique effect of each piece.
Collaboration with Atayal Aboriginal Group
Building upon their previous collections, Chiahung Su continues their profound collaboration with the Atayal Aboriginal group. The skilled artisans of this indigenous community lend their expertise to the team of Chiahung Su for the creation and dyeing of their garments. Master craftsmen from the Atayal Aboriginal Tribe hand-twist metallic yarns, which are then woven into fabrics, dyed, and finished at high temperatures. This meticulous craftsmanship not only creates a special texture but also showcases the traditional artistry and skill of the Atayal people.
