SEAN SUEN SS25

Runway Editorial

Sean Suen's 2025 Spring/Summer collection brilliantly connects the grandeur of Peking Opera with contemporary fashion, drawing inspiration from the legendary Mei Lanfang, a Peking Opera master known for his extraordinary portrayals of female characters and his innovative contributions to Chinese theater. Suen’s designs reflect Mei’s dual identities, blending elements from his daily wear, diplomatic attire, and theatrical costumes.

This collection stands out with its asymmetrical draping blazers and classic tailoring. The deconstructed, paneled two-tone blazers add a modern twist, while the oversized bombers combined with beige trench coats redefine sophistication. Exposed shirts and knee-high boots add a bold edge, while voluminous suits with a washed leather look bring variety next to the teddy coats.

Double-collar asymmetrical blazer coats and two-tone blazers further explore the fusion of tradition and modernity. By integrating rich textures of silks and brocades with noticable cuts, Suen pays homage to Mei Lanfang’s artistic legacy.
